New Mexico Community Involvement

Heritage Hotels & Resorts Community Partnerships

When you stay at Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, you make a difference in the community. Hotel Encanto supports artistic ventures by featuring design, decor and cuisine created by members of our New Mexico community.

Our support includes:

  • Hospitality community programs, cultural programs and events
  • Various organizations, non-profits and scholarships programs

As part of this tradition of cultural preservation and support, we donated a portion of every room night's revenue to the Rio Grande Theatre. As a registered non-profit organization that supports performing arts and education in the Doña Ana County. Your donations help support the Rio Grande Theatre and its role in promoting exciting performances and innovative educational programs in the community.

About the Rio Grande Theatre

The Rio Grande Theatre was established in 1926. Theatre was originally the Hacker Hotel until it was acquired and later transformed by Southwest architect Otto Thorman. He designed the building to resemble the Italian Renaissance Revival style, which was popular in the 1920s and 30s. The building survived an earthquake and a fire in the early 30s.
Today, the Rio Grande theatre is the only remaining two-story adobe theatre in the country. It has been in operation for--off and on--for more than 70 years. The performing arts venue is home to the Doña Ana Arts Council since it was renovated and reopened 2005. Located in the heart of downtown Las Cruces, the 422-seat, state-of-the-art facility is used for events and rented by performance groups.

The Rio Grande Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that was formed in 1926 for the purpose to create a facility as a performing arts and education venue.
