New Mexico Community Involvement

Heritage Hotels & Resorts Community Partnerships

When you stay at Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, you make a difference in the community. Hotel Encanto supports artistic ventures by featuring design, decor and cuisine created by members of our New Mexico community.

Our support includes:

  • Hospitality community programs, cultural programs and events
  • Various organizations, non-profits and scholarships programs

As part of this tradition of cultural preservation and support, we donated a portion of every room night's revenue to the Friends of the Taylor Family Monument in 2012. The Friends group is a registered non-profit organization that supports the Taylor-Barela-Reynolds-Mesilla State Monument (TBRM). Our donations will help the Friends develop innovative educational programs for elementary school children, conduct oral histories and prepare video presentations about Old Mesilla Plaza.

About New Mexico State Monuments & the new Taylor-Barela-Reynolds-Mesilla State Monument -

The New Mexico State Monument system was established on March 14, 1931. Located on the historic Mesilla Plaza, the Taylor-Barela-Reynolds-Mesilla State Monument (TBRM) consists of two stores connected by a covered passageway that leads to a large home in the rear. This combination of business and domestic uses was a fairly common practice in nineteenth-century New Mexico. Inside the classic adobe architecture of their home, J. Paul and Mary Taylor used and displayed an extraordinary collection of Spanish Colonial, Mexican and New Mexican artwork. This collection, along with furniture, rugs, pottery and textiles from all over the world, has been donated as part of the Monument. The monument provides an exceptional setting for visitors to understand and appreciate the history, culture and architecture of Mesilla and the Borderland.

Friends of the Taylor Family Monument is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that was formed in 2010 for the purpose of supporting the preservation and interpretation of TBRM.
